dryer maintenence

It seems that our dryer had developed this extremely annoying squeak or squeal and after cussing it for days I decided I better see what was going on. I pulled it out from the wall and that in itself is a chore as our laundry room is very small and tight and took off the back and there was a sea of lint. Lint covered everything and it's a miracle that my house hadn't burned down. The dryer vent itself was half stopped up,and under the dryer was every toy mouse our cat had lost in the last few years. I cleaned everything out with the trusty shop vac and put it all back together and so far no squeals or squeaks, but I would advise everyone to check for the lint especially if you have a gas dryer. It's a tragedy waiting to happen and who knows it might even prolong the life o your dryer.

I assumed that everyone knew that one had to clean under and around a drier at least twice a year. I check the flow out of the pipe outside every time it is on, if I walk by. Roaches and mice like under there also.
They are a fire hazard.
I knew people didn't clean the lint filter after every drying cycle, but I thought they knew about the fact that the lint had to go somewhere!
Well, it takes all kinds.

I can assure you there are no roaches or mice under anything in my house, I guess if I had them like you do, I would clean under there more often too.

Out of curiosity, when you guys are sharing that so called superior brain, do ya'll change custody by the hour or day?

Never seen any mice in Georgia, come to think of it! Guess the snakes eat them.
However, if you live in a house that doesn't have those big old dark bugs at least occasionally, I would like to know your secret!
Most people won't admit ever seeing one but why deny them their identity? I kill them out with poison myself, but they come back.
What guys sharing?
