Are you Australian? Possums are only in Australia and are related to the Koala Bear. The Aborigines at one time used them for cloaks, etc., but they are now endangered. They stink terribly.
Now, the American OPossum is related to the Posssum, is plentiful, likes highways a lot, and was at one time a favorite food, along with the ground-hog, due to their being easy to obtain---just pick up the Opossums! One could twist a ground-hog out of his hole with a long stick with a "Y' in the end. Very fat and good with beans and collards.
One ate many things between Hoover and Roosevelt! Black snake stew, chopped into 2" pieces and boiled all day over a fireplace fire, in a pot along with whatever roots could be found was very nourishing!
Only the Clampetts had a Possum Day as far as I know!

I seen an extremely rare sight the other morning.........a live possum. Usually, they're two dimensional on the roadway.
