All State Band

I'm down here in Savannah for the All state band concerts, and let me tell you these kids rock. You can say all you want about the state of the schools in Georgia but these kids are the cream of the crop, and I include the orchestra's in this too, I've never really listened to an orchestra before but I bet the pros are only marginally better then these kids, and these kids are only middle school students. I can't say enough good things about the band directors in our county and especially Ricky Williams of Fayette Middle School, he lives and breathes band for these kids and can get the very best out of the kids, he has placed the highest number of kids in All State for the second year in a row which is a testament to his dedication to his students. this man goesw above and beyond the call of duty and I know the parents appreciate it even if we don't show it enough. For parents who want their kids to excell in school get them involved in band and watch them grow.

if one of those kids made a mistake. Say they ripped, missed a note, whatever...would you judge them..call them failures, and idiot, a dumba**..i would nope not...but thats what hutch866 loves to do is insult people and put them down. Apparently that makes him feel more like a man i guess....

I totally agree with you, hutch. If fact, I was with FMS at All-State this year, too! It is amazing to me that those talented musicians are only middle schoolers. I'm so very proud of each and every one of them!!

hutch - Your child plays the horn, and your wife was there, too?

My child plays percussion, I didn't get to Savannah until late Friday night.

I'm always amazed at how much Mr. Williams does, much less what talent he gets out of our children! He will be greatly missed, as this is our last year at FMS.

Thanks for the update Hutch. It will be interesting to watch these kids grow and improve through FCHS. The Redcoat Marching Band at UGA has so many FCHS kids it's like a 'minor league' for the UGA band here. Eye-wink

The whole county is loaded with some very talented kids.

Again, thanks for the update and drive safely!
