Football Playoffs

I want to take this time to thank the Tiger football team for an exceptional year of football. You boys have made this one of the most exciting falls of my life. I knew my daughter was going to enjoy marching band and ya'll have enhanced the experience by a factor of ten. My hats off to you boys, and Tommy Webb, great job. You and your coaches have had these kids prepared every week and your dilligence shows at every game.
Win or lose Friday night it doesn't matter, ya'll have had a season to remember and I myself thank you for the fun and excitement you have supplied this year......GO TIGERS......

Thank you dear lady, you would have been so proud of our boys. These kids will not accept defeat, they just keep on coming at you. Had to pick off a pass in the endzone to seal the win, but win yet again they did. Tommy Webb, I don't know if you read this garbage, but once again you have done a masterful job of coaching. Good on you. The hutch is very hoarse right now because it was that kind of a game. I think I need an adult beverage now. What a night
.........GO TIGERS........

A REALLY REALLY BIG SHOW TONIGHT!

High School Football! Fayette Tigers to something never before done!

Forty percent of the high school football teams in Georgia and across the Nation are beginning the all important Play Off Season. For most small towns and many communities this is the sporting event of the year and they are passionately, intensely, totally, caught up in the live or die drama played out live, their kids the stars. Powerful Stuff! Radios have been talking football all week, today they will be blaring football. Even the sixty percent of teams, towns, communities left out of the play offs are involved almost (well, almost nearly almost involved) as much those playing, pulling for or against the combatants. Nothing important planned for tonight, go to a Play Off game, experience again the excitement. I will be sitting in Stands of the Fayette County High School Tiger's.

The 10-0 Fayette Tigers are the story of the year in Georgia High School Football. FCHS has never been a contender before. Heck, football has always been an after thought at FCHS. Guess Fayetteville has always had more important things to do than attempt to build any foot ball power house, but, against all odds, they have one this year, and Fayettevillians are infected with foot ball fever. La Fayette would be proud!

It ain’t been easy, and by some sinister trick of the forces of evil intent on derailing our valiant undefeated Tigers, it has been made worse. Homer couldn’t have composed a more daunting, a more imposing, a more odd, odyssey.

Like Play Off’s everywhere, an attempt is made to seed opponents so that those most likely to win, the seemingly most powerful and talented, those whose efforts and victories have earned them that respect, are not immediately put into the arena facing one another in a one loss and you are out contest. The spirit of seeding is to have the best at the very end playing each other, while at the same time affording an opportunity for those deemed least likely to win a chance to knock off the heavy weights and take their seed. Well, the “Dark Side” has taken issue with our Noble Tigers and has conspired to make it as tough as possible for them to win the State Championship.

Eighty teams started, Thirty two teams making Play Off; Play Off Bracket set up with sixteen teams on the East Side and sixteen on the West Side. Each side is broken down to four brackets, four teams in each bracket. The teams in each of the four brackets are seeded one through four. Game one will have seed “One” playing seed “Four“, seed “Two” playing seed “Three” with seed “One” being (supposedly) the most powerful. There are a total of eight seeds of “one’s, two‘s, three‘s, and four‘s” total in the whole of the brackets.

By some travesty of justice and disregard of the spirit of seeding, Our heroic FCHS Tigers, ranked number six in the State and seeded number one in their bracket, will face the powerful Baldwin Braves, who though seeded number 4 in the bracket, ranks number four in the State ... higher than five of the eight number one seeds. Here you have what could be, should be, two number one seeds battling for their life the very first game. For the winner, it doesn’t get easier.

The winner of the Baldwin-Fayette County game will probably have to face the highly rated and ranked 7-3 Bainbridge Bearcats.

If they get by the Bearcats, there stands the awesome number three (or two, depends on pole) ranked, 10-0 Tucker Tigers.

Should they get by the Tucker Tigers, guess what! There stands Goliath; The 31 and 0, Nationally ranked, Number one in State ... North Side Warner Robins (oops, need bigger rock)

Should they prevail against NS Warner Robins, in the Championship game they will have to defeat the nine time region champ, five time state champ, 45 weeksranked number one in State, now ranked number two in state, the battle scarred warrior and highly decorated, Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets.

Should Fayetteville make it all the way to Champion, (and I am certain they will), they will have, very possibly and most probably, have defeated not only the vaunted Bainbridge Bearcats, but have defeated the numbers 4, 3, 2, and 1 ranked teams in the State. To my knowledge, that has never been done before, But Fayetteville is full of a lot of first this year. The sun and stars are shinning on FCHS, embarked on an impossible venture that, when completed, will inspire poems and songs for Centuries.

With every Fayette win someone somewhere, somemanyones everywhere, would poo poo it; saying Region 2 is weak this year.

Well, tne vaunter Region 4 is now down to one team, the number one Ranked North Side Warner Robins ... whose 14 to 0 victory over 4th seeded Creekside will raise eyebrows, and questions.

Go Tigers! Good luck White Water and and Bannekers All four Region 2 teams did themselves and region 2 proud. Creekside, GOOD SHOW!
