Vineyard hosts Bluegrass show this weekendThe monthly meeting of the Southside Chapter of the Southeastern Bluegrass Association will be held Sunday, June 18, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Vineyard Community Church, 193 Johnson Ave, Fayetteville. The church is located two blocks south of the Train Depot, just off S. Jeff Davis Drive. From the Courthouse Square, go south on State Hwy. 85 to the first street and turn left next to the Fire Station on Johnson Ave. The church will be about two blocks on the right. Auditions for Southern Nights ChoraleThe Southern Nights Chorale is a precision, men’s a cappella chorus. Its repertoire consists of an eclectic mixture of secular, sacred, and patriotic songs. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings. I remember liking the movie and getting the creeps, but I wasn’t offended when word of a remake came about and when I found out it was coming out on June 6, 2006 (666, get it?), well I just had to go and cover this film, didn’t I? Georgia Academy of Dance presents 16th annual Celebration of DanceGeorgia Academy of Dance & the Performing Arts in Peachtree City will present its 16th annual Celebration of Dance series featuring the ballet “Romeo and Juliet” on Sunday, June 11 at 2 p.m., “A Little Patch of Heaven” with students from the Early Childhood Program on Saturday, June 10 at 11 a.m. and a contemporary dance production of “Dancing Through Time” on Saturday, June 10 at 7 p.m. The performances will take place at the Coweta County Centre for Performing Arts located at 1523 Lower Fayetteville Road in Newnan. Day camp teaches history for 10th yearCelebrating its 10th anniversary this summer, the Victorian Adventures History Day Camp has been providing girls the opportunity to participate in activities that will carry them back to days of old, wearing hoop skirts, making butter, learning needlework, "taking tea," candle-making and performing early American dancing, since its inception in 1997. Now held at Southern Oaks on Jeff Davis Drive, the camp originally was the brainchild of Michele Cox who developed the day camp as a fundraiser to contribute to the restoration of the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House. Once the city of Fayetteville purchased the Holliday House, Cox began conducting the day camp as her own business in various rented facilities and added Victorian tea parties, historic school field trips, etiquette, classes and tours of the Fayetteville City Cemetery to her offerings. Peachtree City Civic Ballet performs June 3The Peachtree City Civic Ballet Company will perform in concert on Saturday June 3 at 7 p.m. The concert will be held at Our Lady Of Mercy High School. The company will premiere two new works, according to director Kathleen Senger. Artist-In-Residence, Brenda Hotard, has choreographed “Tango” and Senger has choreographed “Handel’s Water Suite.” McIntosh alum returns to direct YMCA drama campRyan Alan Pierini joins the Fayette Family YMCA staff team as the artistic director for this summer’s drama camp. A graduate of McIntosh High School, Pierini has a MFA in Theatre with an emphasis in acting from the University of Mississippi and currently teaches at the MS Gulf Coast Community College in Gulfport, Mississippi. As a theatre instructor, Pierini teaches the fundamentals of acting, movement for the actor, stagecraft, theatrical make-up, theatre appreciation and drama production. Choreography will be provided by Amanda Freeman. “Annie” plays at the FredTwilight Theatre Troupe will embark on the second weekend of its production of “Annie” on this weekend Based on the book by Thomas Meehan, the popular musical follows the spunky red-headed Depression-era orphan named Annie (played by India Scandrick) as she tenaciously tries to find her parents who abandoned her on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage. The embittered Miss Hannigan (Beth Nicholson) who runs the dismal orphanage hatches a plan with her brother (Hugh Barret) and his girlfriend du jour (Alison Chambers), but thanks to Annie’s tenacious optimism, the good fortune of attracting the attention of Daddy Warbucks (Rick Massengale), and the intervention of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (Andy Chambers), the evil plot is foiled and goodness reigns. “The Little Princess” reigns at NTCNewnan Theatre Company will present the final weekend of “The Little Princess” this weekend. A favorite tale for children and adults alike, the main character, Sara, is a young girl facing the loss of her father and her fortune. Despite her hardships, Sara keeps a positive attitude, her kind heart and loyal friends. But in the end, does everything work out fine?
