The Villages Amphitheater will be transformed into a 40’s radio show Saturday night, May 27th. The concert, in honor of Memorial Day, will feature the Atlanta Pops Big Band teaming up with the Philco Radio Players and the South City Voices to help create this WWII musical show. The two hour program will be filled with patriotic music combined with plenty of nostalgic war time tunes.

The show is guaranteed to please all ages with selections from Duke Ellington and Glen Miller as well as patriotic favorites like “God Bless America” and the “Armed Forces Medley.” Reproductions of authentic radio commercials and skits will be performed in between the musical selections.

The South City Voices, a four member group consisting of two males and two females, are a rare blend of style, class, tight vocal harmonies and are sometimes compared to Manhattan Transfer. These four southerners are delighting audiences everywhere with their smooth, silky sound and dynamic stage presentation. They will be performing the vocals on some of the big band selections.

The Philco Radio Players are a professional old-time radio theater repertory company that does live recreations of the classics of the Golden Age of Radio from 1925-1955. All of the shows are family oriented and suitable for audiences of all ages. The shows feature radio actors, live sound effects and audience participation.

The gates for the Villages will open at 6:30 p.m. with the show beginning at 7:30. This concert is sponsored by Main Street Tourism Association and the admission is free. Tiered seating will be in place for the concerts, or attendees may bring their own chairs to set up in the lawn area.
