McIntosh alum returns to direct YMCA drama campThu, 06/01/2006 - 2:27pm

Ryan Alan Pierini joins the Fayette Family YMCA staff team as the artistic director for this summer’s drama camp. A graduate of McIntosh High School, Pierini has a MFA in Theatre with an emphasis in acting from the University of Mississippi and currently teaches at the MS Gulf Coast Community College in Gulfport, Mississippi. As a theatre instructor, Pierini teaches the fundamentals of acting, movement for the actor, stagecraft, theatrical make-up, theatre appreciation and drama production. Choreography will be provided by Amanda Freeman. Campers will experience staging, directing, costume and set design as well as learn the role as an actor in the play. Camp for ages seven through rising fifth graders is a two week program focusing on voice projection, choreography and music performance. Drama camp is offered July 10-21, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the remainder of the day filled with traditional camp activities such as swimming, canoeing, arts and crafts, archery, and more. Campers enrolled in this camp will perform in the Jr. Broadway production. The camp day is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with free pre and post camps from 7-9 a.m. and 4-6:30 p.m. Camp is $250 for the two week session. Middle and high school students may enroll in a three week program offered July 10-28, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Professional direction will be given in all aspects of acting, choreography, music, lights, and set construction. Students experience being a part of a professional Jr. Broadway production and will be required to attend all practices and performances for the production. Camp is $250 for the three week session. Performances are scheduled at the Fayette Family YMCA, 215 Huiet Road, Fayetteville, July 27-29 at 7 p.m. The registration deadline is July 3 for both drama camps.
