Summer is finally here, well it feels that way anyhow, and that means summer camps, vacations, sleep-overs and all kinds of fun things for kids and their families.
The Main Street Tourism Association, Chick-fil-A and J93.3 have joined up to offer families a fun and free place to spend Friday evenings together, Family Film Nights at the Villages Amphitheater in Fayetteville.

Everyone is invited to come out for three nights of family entertainment beginning this Friday at 8 p.m.

Follow horse trainer Ben Crane on his journey in the film “Dreamer” at the first Family Film Night under the stars on June 16. Inspired by a true story, Ben Crane (Kurt Russell) believes that a severely injured racehorse deserves another chance. He and his daughter Cale (Georgia-born Dakota Fanning) adopt the horse and save it from being sacrificed by the owner. The arrival of the mare to Crane's farm provides the perfect opportunity for both father and daughter to reconstruct their lost familial bond. The mare is renamed Soñador, which means “dreamer” in English. Despite its broken leg, the horse may have another chance to return to racing with the help of Cale, Ben, and his father, Pop (Kris Kristofferson).

On Friday, June 23 the second film in the series will play at the Villages, “Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat.” Based on Dr. Seuss’ beloved classic, “The Cat in the Hat” tells the story of Conrad and Sally Walden (Spencer Breslin and Dakota Fanning) as they sit in their house on a cold, cold, wet day. The siblings are home alone with their pet fish and it is raining outside. There is nothing to do until The Cat in the Hat (Mike Myers) walks in the front door. He introduces them to their imagination, and at first it's all fun and games. That is, until things get out of hand, and The Cat must go, go, go, before their parents get back. The Cat in the Hat will make a special appearance at film night as it corresponds with the Fayette-Coweta Family Theatre’s production of “Seussical the Musical.” The group will offer a sneak preview of the musical before the movie begins.

The final night of the film series will take place Friday, July 14 when the animated film “Madagascar” will be shown. At New York City's Central Park Zoo, a lion (Ben Stiller), a zebra (Chris Rock), a giraffe (David Schwimmer), and a hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith) are best friends and stars of the show. But when one of the animals goes missing from his cage, the other three break free to look for him, only to find themselves reunited on a ship en route to Africa. When their vessel is hijacked, however, the friends, who have all been raised in captivity, learn first-hand what life can be like in the wild.

Bring a blanket and picnic and enjoy watching family films under the stars. Chick-fil-A will be served at the concessions and New Vision Community Church will offer free snow cones each night.

The gates will open at 8 p.m. each night and the movies will begin at 9 p.m. or dark at the Villages Amphitheater. All film nights are free and open to the public.
