Church raises funds for local school

This weekend, residents from all over the county will gather to share a meal of tasty pancakes and sweet rolls, browse through a collection of gently used books for sale and most importantly, help a local elementary school.

Community Christian Church, located at 349 Kenwood Road in Fayetteville, will hold their inaugural Book Sale & Pancake Breakfast to help raise funds for North Fayette Elementary School.

“During the March CWF (Christian Women's Fellowship), it was discussed that March was the month when the CMF (Christian Men's Fellowship) held their National Pancake Breakfast that raises money for local children's groups or charities. Since we are a small church, it was decided to have a combined effort for our pancake breakfast. We have always reached out to the community and a local elementary school was selected as the recipient,” said organizer Linda Lord.

For three months the 60-member church has planned the event which they expect approximately 250 people to attend. The purpose of the fund raiser is to fund additional ink cartridges for the computers that the children use at North Fayette Elementary School. The school’s funding does not cover the need for additional ink cartridges, but the church is aware of the importance of such items to every school.

The book sale and breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday morning on the church grounds. Pancakes will be served with sweet rolls and juice. “We have been very fortunate to receive donations for many of the items and since this is a fund raiser, that increases the amount we can give to the school,” said Lord.

Adult plates will cost $5 each, children’s plates will cost $3.50 and children under two years will eat free. The breakfast will be served in the church fellowship dining room.

For book collectors, over 300 titles will be available for purchase. “All of the books for sale have been donated to the yard sale.”

Hardbacks and paperbacks of a variety of genres and interests will be for sale, and all are of good quality.

The book sale & pancake breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Community Christian Church, 349 Kenwood Road, Fayetteville.
