The word is out Newnan Theatre Company is looking for talented people to fill its cast for the upcoming show “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.” According to show director Becky Clark, Newnan and the surrounding communities have plenty of skilled actors, singers dancers and musicians and she’d like to see all of them come and try out for a part in this production.
The auditions will be held on Monday and Tuesday, May 22 and 23, starting at 7 p.m. at NTC on First Avenue in Newnan. The show requires a medium size cast of 16-20 people, late teens to adults. According to Clark, in addition to the many male roles, there are roles available for female dancers, as well as some orchestra parts-flute, clarinet, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, viola, violin and auxiliary percussion.
Everyone is invited to audition, and will be expected to do cold reads from the script and try some singing and dancing. For more information about the audition, including character breakdowns, contact director Becky Clark by e-mail at sbarclark@numail.org.
“A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” a musical by Stephen Sondheim, Bert Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, will be presented by Newnan Theatre Company on the Main Stage August 18-September 3.
As well as “Forum,” auditions will be held at the same time for “Daddy’s Dyin’—Who’s Got the Will?” The comedy, an Artist Series production, will be presented July 14-30. Cast members should be 18 years and older and prepared to read from the script and improv a little bit.
