The Peachtree City City Council tabled the topic of speed cushions in Planterra Ridge until their June 21 meeting. In the meantime, they would like to examine the speeds in certain areas and determine if fewer speed cushions in more strategically placed areas would reduce speed in the area and continue to deter traffic.

Wyndham cook arrested for PTC armed robbery

An Atlanta man who works in Peachtree City has been arrested for the May 1 robbery of the Shell gas station on Ga. Highway 74 and Wisdom Road in Peachtree City, police said.

The suspect has been identified as Clinton Lamar English, 23, of Carson Pass SW, Atlanta, police said. English is a cook at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center, police said.

City Asks Residents To Change One July 4th Tradition

Time honored traditions that evolve from a community’s special events are usually embraced and encouraged. Those attending Peachtree City’s annual 4th of July festivities are asked to change one established habit.

In the past, residents have laid claim to their favorite spot to watch the evening fireworks display by laying out blankets, anchored to stay in place until they arrive. The problem is, because crowds are becoming larger each year and favorite spots more scarce, the blankets are showing up early – even the day before.

PTC police make Internet porn arrest

A McDonough man was arrested yesterday for trying to arrange a sexual act with an undercover Peachtree City police officer who he thought was a 14-year-old.

Christopher Todd Walker, 33, of McDonough was charged with one count of violating the computer pornography and child exploitation act. Police said Walker engaged in "conversations of an extremely illicit sexual nature" during the investigation.

Second annual Stop Domestic Violence 1 Mile Walk/ 5K Run on May 26 in Newnan

The Community Welcome House Domestic Violence Shelter is announcing the 2nd annual Stop Domestic Violence 1 Mile Walk/ 5K Run on May 26.  The event will be a fund raiser for the Community Welcome House of Coweta County and will begin at 8 a.m at the First Baptist Church of Newnan, just off the Courthouse Square in downtown Newnan.
