Residents will get chance to lob questions at town hall meeting

Mayor Harold Logsdon will host a “Town Hall” meeting Tuesday, June 19 focusing on current and future growth, transportation and redevelopment issues.

The meeting will be held at City Hall from 7-9 p.m. and will feature several speakers on those issues. Also, citizens will have a chance to ask questions to those speakers.

Logsdon said he feels the dialog is necessary to determine the city’s direction for the next 50 years.

“As we approach Peachtree City’s 50th anniversary and the virtual completion of the plan for our city, we are not finished planning,” Logsdon said. “We need to continue looking forward at what is best for Peachtree City over the next 50 years and what outside influences will be shaping our decisions and affecting the quality of our residents’ lives.”

The panel will include:

Fayette County Commission Chairman Jack Smith

Fayette County Development Authority President Matt Forshee

Fayette County Chamber of Commerce President Virginia Gibbs

Former Peachtree City Mayors Fred Brown, Bob Lenox, and Steve Brown; and

Representatives from the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC): including ARC Director Chick Krautler and consultant Kofi Wakhisi, who is working on the ARC’s Southern Regional Accessibility Study.

Each speaker will give a 5-10 minute presentation on the area they represent and how their agency affects Peachtree City and the surrounding areas, officials said.

Several guests have also been invited to sit on the panel to respond to questions including State Senator Ronnie Chance, State Representative Dan Lakly (Fayette County), State Representative Billy Horne (Coweta County), Coweta County Commissioner Tim Higgens, and Mark Sanford, Project Manager for the Georgia Department of Transportation.
