Police: foul play not suspected in death of UGA studentFri, 02/26/2010 - 11:32am
By: John Munford
At this point, there have been no indications that foul play is involved with the Sunday death of a University of Georgia student at his mother’s Peachtree City home, police said Friday morning. “At this time there is nothing to lead us to suspect foul play,” said police Capt. Rosanna Dove. Samuel Kennedy, 24, was found to be unresponsive shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday morning, police said. It was later determined that Kennedy had died, police said. Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy and also from toxicology tests before a determination is made in the case. The toxicology reports could take several weeks at least, police said. Police have declined to comment on the believed cause of death in the case but have promised to release more information at a later date once the investigation is further along. Kennedy was a 2004 graduate of Starr’s Mill High School, according to school records. A version of this story published Wednesday incorrectly reported that the home where Kennedy was discovered is owned by Thomas and Gayle Reddy. The home is actually owned by Stanley and Peggy Richards, who are Kennedy's mother and stepfather according to a published obituary for the student. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. at Peachtree City United Methodist Church. A memorial page has been established on Facebook and can be found by searching for “R.I.P. Sam Kennedy”. login to post comments |
