B. Hugh Smith, 86, Peachtree City, died Feb. 19, 2010. He was born in Rico, Ga. He served in the United States Navy in World War II. He was retired from Life and Casualty Insurance Company and then worked as a home inspector for Fayette State Bank and the Bank of America. He was a former member of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church having served as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Peachtree City, having served as a deacon and an elder. He was recently awarded his 50-year membership pin with the Fayetteville Masonic Lodge #711, where he was also a Past Master. His love of roses led him to become an active member of the South Metro Rose Society. He had also participated in the Relay for Life as a cancer survivor. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Dr. Don Smith officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary Frances McFarland Smith; a daughter, Becky and Skip Hughes, Senoia; grandsons, Jay and Heather Hughes, Newnan, and Jon and Beth Hughes, Senoia; and a great-granddaughter, Ashtyn Hughes, Newnan. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge. login to post comments |
