Handbell choirs from all over Ga. to present concert here March 13Tue, 02/23/2010 - 4:00pm

Peachtree City United Methodist Church will host a free concert of handbell choirs from United Methodist churches throughout the state of Georgia, all performing together at Peachtree City United Methodist Church Saturday, March 13, at 4 p.m. The choirs will spend the day rehearsing together in a “Ring Through” format under the direction of Arnold Sherman, composer, arranger and director. Sherman is co-founder of Red River Music and founder and director of the East Texas Handbell Ensemble. As clinician and guest conductor, he has led choral and handbell workshops, festivals, and reading sessions throughout the United States, Canada, England, Japan and the Bahamas. Currently living in Tyler, Texas, Sherman teaches the Composing for Handbells class each summer at Concordia University. He has been a recipient of an ASCAP Standard Award every year since 1992. The repertoire list for the concert will include: Above All/When I Survey, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, How Can I Keep from Singing, Lily of the Valley, Rock-a My Soul and Song of Assurance. The concert will be held in the PTCUMC sanctuary at 225 Robinson Rd. in Peachtree City.
