ACC satellite campus coming to PTCFri, 01/15/2010 - 3:03pm
By: Ben Nelms
Fayette County is about to have another opportunity for those seeking a college degree. Atlanta Christian College (ACC) will soon open its first satellite campus in Peachtree City. ACC Communications Director Sarah Huxford said the ribbon cutting for the new facility located at 800 Commerce Drive will be held Jan. 26, where ACC has leased the entire second floor. Serving as ACC’s first satellite campus, the Peachtree City location will provide a nearby alternative to the main campus in East Point. “We already have a lot of students from the area,” Huxford said of the Fayette/Coweta region, noting that ACC wants to add satellite campuses in other areas around the metro Atlanta area in the next year. Huxford said the Peachtree City campus will initiate its course offerings with classes in the adult degree completion program. Those courses are part of the associate and bachelor degree programs in Christian Ministry, Organizational Leadership and Counseling and Human Services. Classes for these programs will be offered one night per week and are geared to the needs of working adults and others, Huxford said. Peachtree City and Fayette County have long-sought to have ACC present in the community. The college in 2008 announced its intent to relocate its main campus, with Peachtree City and Newnan being two of the top candidates for that move. ACC slowed its pace for the relocation move in late 2008 due to the credit crunch that accompanied the recession. The ribbon cutting for the new satellite campus will be held Jan. 26 at 4:30 p.m. For more information on ACC call 404-761-8861 or visit www.acc.edu login to post comments |
