Here Ye! Here Ye! The sights and sounds of 19th Century London are back and alive at Heritage Christian Church for this years Dickens Village.  Dickens Village is not just another craft show, but a unique and nostaligic, family friendly, entertainment experience. Olde English shops, period costumed characters with accents, entertainment, and goodies fill the church campus at 2130 Redwine Road with sights and smells that take you back to another era. Dickens Village provides five days of merriment, music and memories for everyone.  This year’s Village is planned for Dec. 9-13 from 6- 9 p.m. nightly at Heritage Christian Church.

After taking a year off, this year’s event will have a new and improved look which takes advantage of the new church sanctuary. Those familiar with the village will be happy to know that all their old favorites including the candy shop, toy shop, and free hot cocoa will be waiting for them as they walk through the newly designed “London Bridge” entrance.  Once inside, guests will be entertained by English Bobbies, the chimney sweep, street carolers and townspeople as they mill about the village dressed as and portraying 19th century English folk.  Additional elements to experience as a family are our Christmas Indoor Production and our Live Nativity Story.

According to Nylsa Dunbar, Outreach Minister at Heritage, over 5,000 guests are expected to experience this year’s event. Staging of the event is no small task and requires the work of over 300 up front cast and behind the scenes crew members.

“During these economic hard times, people will be happy to know that everything at Dickens is free” said Dunbar “from the entertainment to the food, it’s our way of saying Merry Christmas to the people of our community. So in conclusion please accept our warm invite to come be a part of something wonderful!”
