Zaphyra, will perform a holiday program on Sunday, Dec. 13 at Newnan’s favorite restaurant, Ten East Washington.

The Fayette based vocal band will be presenting “A Touch of Christmas” from 12:30-1:30 pm.

“It is an ideal opportunity to share with the family during this season, a Sunday after church” said Maria Pia Ugarte, founder and artistic director.

The program is being presented by Ten East Washington and Voices, which Ugarte also heads. This year, Voices decided to do a smaller scale production, so they approached the owner of Ten East, George Rasovsky. As usual, he was open and eager to participate and that is how the group came up with this format.

The band – formed by existing members Ugarte, Jill Safko and Paige McCauley – is joined by the winner of its fall auditions, Amy Beaucham, Newnan resident and Peachtree City teacher.

“I am very excited about being a part of the group” said Beaucham. “Singing with Pia, Paige, and Jill is like singing with angels.”

Zaphyra has become well known in The Southern Crescent in its three years of existence. Its eclectic taste will offer traditional Christmas music, spirituals, inspirational, country and classical in this occasion.

“There is something for every taste and member of the family and the program flows beautifully!” explained Ugarte.

Among the favorites the band will be interpreting are Silent Night, the Gounod Ave Maria, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Pie Jesu, Sweet Little Jesus Boy, Winter Wonderland, Amazing Grace, Gesu Bambino, My Favorite Things, Angels We Have Heard on High and Little Drummer Boy among others.

Please call Ten East Washington at (770) 502-9100 for reservations (strongly suggested.)
