Tyrone adopts library policyFri, 12/04/2009 - 3:35pm
By: Ben Nelms
After a brief discussion Thursday night the Tyrone Town Council adopted a library use policy that put conditions on the use of the StoryTime room and requires that children under age 12 have adult supervision. One of the policy’s main features, as reported by library supervisor Julie Digby, was to prohibit paid business activities such as tutoring. After some discussion by the board it was decided that those activities should not be included in the policy. The two policy components that the board agreed to adopt dealt with the StoryTime room and the supervision of children. Per the policy, the StoryTime room is to be used for library-sponsored activities and will be free of charge and open to the public. Individuals, families, businesses, companies, non-profit organizations and/or religious affiliated organizations will not be allowed to fund-raise on library property. And pertaining to children, the policy states that children under the age of 12 are not permitted to be left alone without adult supervision. Additionally, the library does not accept responsibility for any child left unattended regardless of age. login to post comments |
