Mary Watts of The Home Source Realtors Fayette General Brokerage office continues her real estate advanced education by earning the Green designation, the only green real estate professional designation recognized by the National Association of REALTORS (NAR). Following 18 hours of comprehensive course work created in collaboration with a team of industry experts from throughout the US, Mary is now specifically trained with knowledge of green homes and buildings and issues of sustainability in relation to real estate. Home buyers and sellers benefit from Mary’s understanding the benefits of resource-efficient homes and buildings. With the Green designation, Mary helps customers evaluate the cost/benefits of green building features and practices, and learn of financial incentives and grants available to homeowners. In addition, she has gained an understanding of industry rating and classification systems. “Advanced education is a priority at The Home Source Realtors,” said Fayette General Brokerage Managing Broker Cheri Scranage. “With concern for the environment and rising energy costs, homeowners are searching for innovative ways to live responsibly and save money. With the Green designation, Mary can help customers see a property’s green potential.” A licensed Realtor since 2001, Mary is an Associate Broker and also holds the Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR); Accredited Seller Representative (ASR); Graduate, REALTOR® Institute; and Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designations. She is active in the Fayette Board of Realtors where she serves as 2009 Vice President of Member Services, and in the Fayette Chapter of Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR), for whom she was 2006 President.
