City Café & Bakery Chef named Atlanta ‘Chef of the Year’

Jorg Schatte, owner and chef of Fayetteville’s City Café and Bakery, has been selected Atlanta’s “Chef of the Year” by the UCCA, The United Culinary Chef Association.

The UCCA, founded as Les Touques Blanches, is devoted to improving the appreciation of food service careers and is comprised of prominent local, national and international chefs and restaurateurs.

Schatte joins esteemed company of former recipients: 2005 the late Chef Sonny Yap of the Westin at Lenox, 2006 Chef Louis Spost of The Atlanta Hilton, and 2007 Chef David Reid owner of Sump-En Good Catering.
Schatte began his career in 1978 in Germany as an apprentice baker, progressing to Journeyman and finally to a master in his field finally receiving his Meisterbrief.

He and his wife, Doreen, opened The City Café & Bakery in 1998 where they continue to bring a “European flair” to downtown Fayetteville.

The City Café & Bakery offers a fresh, full service bakery, fine dining and live music.

They are known for their Oktoberfest, Music with Friends, and Valentine’s Day and Easter Sunday celebrations.
