Fulton families will get a closer look at their community airport, Fulton County Airport-Brown Field, during "Aviation Day," 10 a.m.-2 p.m. October 5.

Coweta Fayette Electric Membership Corporation (EMC), through its affiliate EMC Natural Gas, applied to the Georgia Public Service Commission on September 13 to become a certified natural gas marketer.

Union City plans Fall Festival

Union City is well underway in its planning for the annual Fall Festival. Organizers are expecting a large turnout for the popular community festival. The event, which in the past has been held in the latter part of September, will be held October 11th and 12th to allow local high school bands to participate.

Library plans events to attract new patrons

September is National Library Card Month, and the East Point Library will host a variety of activities this fall to encourage citizens to become "card-carrying" patrons of the library.

Judge honored by child councel

Fulton County Juvenile Court Chief Presiding Judge Nina Hickson will receive a 2002 Outstanding Child Advocacy Award presented by the National Association of Counsel for Children (NACC).

Book signing at the library

The Atlanta-Fulton Public Library, with the Center for Southern Literature and the Margaret Mitchell House, will host a discussion and book signing by author Reynolds Price in the Central Library Auditorium September 26 from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Night school offered

Fulton County High School students have an opportunity to earn additional high school credits by attending a nine-week night school.

Landmark has a new song to sing

Premiering at graduation this past May, Landmark Christian School's first alma mater is an original work written by the school's high school English chair Rebecca Riskedahl. The chorus sang the new alma mater in four-part harmony. The moving piece was arranged and directed by Landmark choral director Beth Everett.

Teams face formidable foes in fourth week

The third week of the high school football season is upon us and teams are either looking to continue their winning ways or to right their ships fast. The only home games in the area tonight are Fayette County vs. Newnan and Northgate vs. North Clayton.

AMS hosts NOPI Nationals this weekend

More than 80,000 car enthusiasts are expected this Saturday and Sunday at Atlanta Motor Speedway for the 15th annual NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow, one of the largest in the world. This year's NOPI Nationals will feature more than 6,000 show cars and trucks competing for over $100,000, and a smorgasbord of other activities, including hydraulic jump-offs, burnout contests, dyno contests, the World Bodybuilding Challenge, live music and a foam party.

PTC Recreation to host fun day for students durig school holidays

Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Dept. will hold an all day Friday Funday on Oct. 18 at the Kedron Fieldhouse off Kedron Drive in Peachtree City. Drop off begins at 7:45 a.m. for the day of activities which runs from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Friday Funday coincides with a school holiday for students / staff development day scheduled on the Fayette County Board of Education 2002-03 Calendar. Registration begins on Sept 15 for children ages 5 to 12 at the Kedron Fieldhouse and the Recreation Admin Building,off McIntosh Trail. The cost is $25 per child and is limited to 60 children. Children must bring their own lunch.
