Aviation Day at Fulton County Airport

Fulton families will get a closer look at their community airport, Fulton County Airport-Brown Field, during "Aviation Day," 10 a.m.-2 p.m. October 5.

Sponsored by Chairman Mike Kenn, the second annual Aviation Day will feature family fun, with refreshments, aviation-themed story times, games for children, and face painting.

Representatives from the legendary Tuskeegee Airmen will be on hand to share their history. Brown Field is located at 3955 Aviation Circle, off of Fulton Industrial Boulevard north of I-20. Admission is free.

Guests will be able to view aircraft up close on one closed runway. Visitors will see twin-engine turboprop and jet aircraft, as well as fire trucks and the Fulton County Police Department helicopter. Staff will provide information about a variety of county services.

Named in part for former County commissioner Charlie Brown, who was instrumental in acquiring the site in the late 1940's, the 900-acre airport generates fees by serving as a base for several government agencies and corporate flight operations. It is one of the largest general aviation airports in the region, accommodating aircraft of visiting celebrities and private individuals.
