Library plans events to attract new patrons
September is National Library Card Month, and the East Point Library will host a variety of activities this fall to encourage citizens to become "card-carrying" patrons of the library. Scheduled events are: Super Saturdays: Reading program for children ages 6-13 featuring storytellers, magicians, volunteer readers and multiplication BINGO. Saturdays, through November 23, 2002, 1 p.m.-2 p.m. Position Yourself: Dr. Vicki Mack and Warren Morgan discuss college scholarships and SAT preparation October 15 at 6:30 p.m. Photography: Photographer Frank Johnson discusses photography with teens on September 21 from noon to 1 p.m. Yuck! Science and Social Studies Project Tips: Research tips for parents and children ages 6-13 on using the library for special projects. The program is October 12 and November 9 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Mr. Thrash's Storytime: Stories for children ages 3-5. Call to schedule a group visit. Wednesdays, through November 20, from 10:30 a.m.-11 a.m. Toastmasters: Improve public speaking skills. Mondays, 6:45 p.m.-7:45 p.m. Book Boosters: Call to schedule a reader for students at East Point Schools. To register for a library card, show identification verifying name and current Fulton County address. Parents must complete applications for children younger than 14.
