A criminal risked his life to steal copper from a south Fayetteville power substation July 22, and Coweta-Fayette EMC is offering a $10,000 reward to find out who it was.

F'ville considers lowering fine on business tax

The Fayetteville City Council on Thursday is expected to vote on an amendment to the Occupational Tax Ordinance that would lower the fine imposed when the business tax is not paid. The current fine for failure to pay is $1,000. The change, which mirrors the recent move by the State of Georgia, would set the fine at $500.

Commission adopts bond resolution to build Lake Mac

The Fayette County Commission in a called meeting Wednesday voted 3-0 on the $37.7 million 2009 Bond Series that will pay for the construction of the long-awaited Lake McIntosh and will pay off several GEFA (Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority) loans and refinance the county’s 1998 water bond.

PTC Police: 'Supicious cart path activity' based on bogus reports

Peachtree City police say alleged suspicious activities on the cart path system in the Kedron Village area reported July 29 never happened. These incidents included an alleged robbery and assault, reports of which proved to be bogus.

Fayette School Board approves three-day staff furlough

But that vote Monday night came nonetheless after Gov. Sonny Perdue’s July 22 announcement of a three percent cut in Dept. of Education (DOE) funding and a three-day staff furlough to be taken before Dec. 31.

The Citizen has learned that the general manager of Peachtree City’s Water and Sewage Authority has died.

Larry Turner, who was due to retire at the end of this year, was recuperating from a shoulder replacement surgery at a hospital in Macon but developed complications some time after the procedure, which took place several weeks ago.
