State transportation officials will host a meeting Thursday, July 30 from 5-7 p.m. about the widening of Ga. Highway 54 East from McDonough Road into Clayton County.

The informational meeting, during which public comments will be received, will be hosted at Mundy’s Mill High School, located on Ga. Highway 54 between Fayetteville and Jonesboro.

The 5.3 mile section of road would be widened to four lanes, and the project also includes widening three bridges along the route. The initial design for the project included bike lanes and a separate pedestrian pathway.

DOT officials will be on hand at the meeting to present information and answer questions about the project.

It is not immediately known when the DOT expects to begin construction on the road widening.

Written statements on the project may be submitted until Aug. 13 and may be addressed to Mr. Glenn Bowman, P.E., State Environmental/Location Engineer, 3993 Aviation Circle, Atlanta, Ga. 30336-1593.
