New center to be dedicated Saturday

The Wilbon Clay-Robert Wood Community Center will officially be dedicated on Saturday, August 18 at 11 am. The event will include a program, a ribbon cutting, tours of the buildings and refreshments provided by the American Veterans Terry Allen Post 910. The Clay-Wood Center is located at 135 Heery Road, Newnan, Georgia. The center had a “soft” opening on August 3, 2007

Registration for Coweta County Night High School classes has been extended through Tuesday, August 28. Interested students can register Monday through Thursday, 12 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during that period, at the Central Educational Center.

Harman picked for PTC council seat

Mike Harman was chosen tonight to fill the remaining term left on the Post 1 seat on the Peachtree City Council.

Harman was unanimously selected by council after he was announced to have the most points of the four finalists selected by council at a meeting that ended right at 10:30 p.m. Each council member scored each candidate on a points system and the candidate with the most points was deemed the winner.

Senoia taxes on the rise

Taxes are on the rise for residents in Senoia who had their property reassessed this year. On Monday, the Senoia City Council approved the millage rate at 6.11 mills. City administrator Richard Ferry,, presented the breakdown of millage rate and said 18 percent of the city’s tax base industrial, while 9 percent is commercial, and 73 percent residential. There were no public comments and the rate was agreed to unanimously.
