PTC police: don’t leave valuables in car

Peachtree City police are encouraging residents to stow valuables in their vehicles out of sight.

Maxwell asks Horgan to resign from commission

Fayette County Commissioner Robert Horgan has been asked to resign by one of his fellow commissioners in the wake of his May 23 arrest for misdemeanor marijuana possession and driving with an expired tag.

In a letter provided to The Citizen this evening, commissioner Eric K. Maxwell (pictured at right) indicated that he has asked Horgan to resign. Maxwell noted that his conclusion is shared by an “overwhelming” amount of dozens of Fayette residents and a number of county commissioners from around the state.

Staff Sgt. John Beale of McDonough, who died in Afghanistan and was returned to his home soil this afternoon, got a hero's welcome from Fayette residents Thursday afternoon.

Hundreds of people, many waving American flags, lined the route. Sgt. Beale was escorted from Falcon Field in Peachtree City where his jet landed and through downtown Fayetteville on the way to McDonough.

And that includes things like grazing. That is where a concept called “rotational grazing” comes in. That approach was the topic of a recent workshop, “Grazing for Profitability,” held near David Brown’s Longview Farm near Haralson.

PTC Tea Party Patriots form #5

For a growing group of Peachtree City residents and those around Fayette and Coweta counties, a lot has happened since the April 15 tea party held at City Hall. Peachtree City event organizer Cindy Fallon and others last month formed the non-profit Peachtree City Tea Party Patriots that last week had a mailing list that included nearly 1,300 names from Fayette, Coweta and across south metro Atlanta. The group will hold their next event July 4 at the Fredrick Brown Amphitheater in Peachtree City.

Coweta to get limited stimulus money for transportation

Gov. Sonny Perdue announced last week that the required certification had been submitted for $39 million in transit projects around the state that will be paid through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) stimulus package. Coweta County’s portion is $20,800. The funding is being routed through Georgia Dept. of Transportation (DOT).
