Twenty-three-year-old Fayetteville resident Randy Dale Hubbard was charged with aggravated assault and criminal damage to property June 13 in a road rage incident at Gingercake Road and Hood Avenue.

Fayette Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Brent Rowan said the incident began as a man driving a 1995 Saturn was traveling on Gingercake when Hubbard pulled out in front of him and nearly hit his vehicle. Rowan said the two men exchanged visual gestures after the near-miss.

The driver of the Saturn continued on Gingercake, reaching the intersection at Hood Avenue, where he attempted to turn his vehicle around, according to reports. Hubbard veered toward the Saturn and ran it off the road, Rowan said.

Hubbard exited his vehicle and approached the Saturn carrying a baseball bat, Rowan said. Hubbard then struck the car, completely breaking out the rear windshield, according to reports.

Deputies responding to the incident took Hubbard into custody, said Rowan.
