Water rules are lifted with drought’s endFri, 06/12/2009 - 3:00pm

Fayette County residents can go back to their regular odd-even outdoor watering ways now that all drought watering restrictions have been lifted for Georgia. That means residents can go back to washing their own vehicles and pressure washing homes and other buildings. Outdoor watering use will remain on an odd-even schedule but can be done any time of day, officials said. Officials are discouraging landscape watering between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m because of limited effectiveness. Odd-numbered addresses watering on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Even-numbered and unnumbered addresses will water on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. No watering will be allowed on Fridays. Water System Director Tony Parrott said the county would follow the state’s watering restrictions and not add any more restrictions. Although the outdoor water use can occur any time of the day, This is the first time since June 2006 that the state has not been operating under a restricted watering schedule due to the drought. The rather strict restrictions enacted two years ago led to less water use and also less revenue for water systems as bills are based on water consumption for a given address. login to post comments |
