Newnan Community Theatre brings beloved classic "To Kill a Mockingbird" to life

"To Kill a Mockingbird" is one of the most beloved books of all time. Perhaps that is why performances of it at Newnan Community Theatre are already selling out and the curtain has yet to rise.

Carolyn Cary, Fayette County Historian, will speak at Heritage of Peachtree Retirement Community tomorrow at 1 p.m. The discussion will focus on the history of Fayette County and is free and open to the public.

Georgia Heartland Humane Society hosts old fashion bazaar

The second annual Four Paws Sake Old Fashion Bazaar returns to the Fayetteville Gazebo this Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Georgia Heartland Humane Society and 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit companion animals.

The smells of Georgia's three "P's" peanuts, pecans, and peaches wafted through the halls of Peeples Elementary as students in the third grade at Peeples Elementary in Fayetteville recently enjoyed "A Taste of Georgia."

OLM stages Hunger Banquet

With millions of people across the globe starving to death on a daily basis, many local high school students do not see the actual tragedy that is taking place. The students at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School in Fayette County learned the lesson of global starvation the hard way March 12.

Groundbreaking for new museum at Little White House

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources will break ground on the new Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial Museum Saturday, Apr. 12 at 2 p.m. The groundbreaking, which will coincide with the Little White house's annual Commemorative Ceremony on the 58th anniversary of Roosevelt's death, will feature remarks from Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, Roosevelt's grandaughter, as well as music from the Ft. benning Unfantry Center Band and color guard presented by the United States Marine Corps Logistic Base of Albany.

Dogwood Festival set for this weekend in Atlanta
