Fayette Players and Community Theatre is getting ready to present their fourth Broadway musical this summer. They will bring "The Music Man" to Sams Auditorium in Fayetteville this summer and auditions for this beloved musical will take place at Sandy Creek High School starting Monday, Apr. 14.

"The Music Man" requires a large cast of both adults and children. There are many townsfolk that make up the chorus and there is a need for lots of children to be in the chorus as well as the River City Marching Band.

Adults, ages 18 and up, will audition on Monday, Apr. 14 from 6:30-10 p.m. Those who are auditioning are asked to prepare 16 measures of any song and must bring either the sheet music for the song or accompaniment on either CD or tape. The auditions will also include reading from the script and performing a number, which will be taught by the choreographer, as a group.

Children, ages 8-17, will audition on Tuesday from 4:30-7:30 p.m. and auditions will run the same as adult auditions. Wednesday's auditions will take place from 6:30-10 p.m. and will be used for callbacks and catch-up. Those auditioning should also be prepared to fill out forms stating past experience (if any) and any conflicts during the rehearsal period. The directors are also seeking a barbershop quartet, which is an integral part of the show. Barbershop quartets are asked to audition together.

The first read-through will be Monday, April 21 at 7 p.m. Rehearsals will be at Sandy Creek through May and will take place at The Studio in Fayetteville in June.

"The Music Man" will be directed by Kathy Andersen, while the musical director will be Millie Turek and the choreographer will be Jonsie Pollock. The show will run at Sams Auditorium Thursdays through Sundays July 3-20. There will be an additional show on Wednesday, July 2 and there will be no show on Friday, July 4. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. except on Sundays when performances will start at 2:30 p.m.
