There’s a big hullabaloo stirring this year about which department stores will permit the words, “Merry Christmas,” to be uttered on their premises. A national television preacher has announced a campaign against stores that prohibit the use of the greeting while TV’s Bill O’Reilly has ground his own religious axe over the issue. Some of these folks are urging us not to shop in stores where “Merry Christmas” is not heard.

Prince of Peace begins Advent tonight with ‘Narnia’ sermons

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church will celebrate the season of Advent with services on Wednesday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 7 and 14. St. Matthew will have bread exchange during tonight’s Mass

To celebrate the feast of Thanksgiving, St. Matthew Catholic Church in Tyrone will hold its annual Bread Exchange and Blessing during a special Thanksgiving Eve Mass, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23. Parish families and visitors are invited to bring in a loaf of their favorite home made or store bought bread to be placed in front of the altar before Mass.
