Jarred Hall, a fifth grade student at Peeples Elementary School, was on hand to see the unveiling of the mascot for the Stage One Overall Start of the 2007 Tour de Georgia. Hall came up with the mascot's name, Torti Georgia, and received a prize pack at the unveiling at Jittery Joe's in Peachtree City on Saturday morning. He also got to take it for a spin with Jittery Joe's owner Mark Darrow.

Patrick Murray, a former soccer player for the McIntosh Chiefs, was honored by the school after the Chiefs' win over Whitewater on Friday night.

Kelley O'Hara was at the Starr's Mill-Whitewater soccer games on Friday night and the school retired her jersey before the girls game.

I visited Reality Indoor Climbing in Peachtree City the other day and spoke with members of their competition team. Two of the members demonstrated their climbing abilities for me. There will be a feature on the team in an upcoming edition of the paper.

I took in "A Christmas Survival Guide" at The Legacy Theatre in Tyrone yesterday and thought I'd post my thoughts.

The theatre itself is amazing, as is the fact that they got it all done in time to open the day after Thanksgiving. It is beautifuly decorated inside and the theatre (seats, stage, etc.) are first class. There's not a bad seat in the house and the seats are all comfortable.

According to Sam Sweat, the Assistant Superintendent of Operations for the Fayette County Board of Education, the home of the student that everyone has been referring to was foreclosed on towards the end of September/the beginning of October.

Friday night's game between Starr's Mill and Whitewater was one of the best I have seen in my eight years covering sports in this area. I assume that if you were in the crowd Friday night, you would agree with that assessment, regardless of which side you are on.

I got to catch an advance screening of "Shubian's Rift," the other night and went to the shurman concert at The Red Room last night. If you're looking for something to do this weekend, I would recommend either of these options.

There will be one more night of auditions for Southside Theatre Guild's production of "Nuncrackers." Auditions will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28 at the theater in Fairburn.
