I got to catch an advance screening of "Shubian's Rift," the other night and went to the shurman concert at The Red Room last night. If you're looking for something to do this weekend, I would recommend either of these options.

"Shubian's Rift," is a solid sci-fi film, written, directed, produced, shot, edited, etc. by Coweta County resident Joe Dwyer. The process of writing and filming this movie took seven years and while the production values aren't quite Star Wars quality, it doesn't diminish Dwyer's accomplishment or the strength of the story.

This is no "Plan 9 From Outer Space."

The movie will be presented at The Centre for Performing and Visual Arts in Newnan at 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Advance tickets are all $5 and are available in Newnan at Kebco Toys, Scott’s Bokstore, Allison Performance Hobbies, Sports Cards and NewTech Photo.

shurman, featuring McIntosh graduates Aaron Beavers and Damon Allen, performed before a packed house last night at The red Room in Peachtree City and were asked to perform once again. The southern-rock/country sounding band performed songs from their first album, Jubilee, while also showing off some new songs from an album they are currently in the process of recording. Tickets are $10 and the show starts at 9 p.m.
