Teams search for momentum in basketball season

There are approximately three weeks left in the high school basketball season and coaches are trying to get their teams peaking as they enter their region tournaments. Though every team in the county is playing tough, no team is hotter than the Sandy Creek Lady Patriots.

Starr's Mill and Landmark wrestling teams looking like teams to beat

Starr's Mill and Landmark Christian's wrestling teams fared well in their meets last week.

Rising Starr wrestlers win county championships

Rising Starr Middle School's wrestling team won the county championships last weekend, edging out teams from Booth, Whitewater, Flat Rock and Fayette Middle. They will host the Metro Middle School Athletic League championships this Friday and Saturday against those same four teams and six teams from Henry County.

SCAT defeats Chattahoochee Gold swimmers

SCAT swimmers defeated Chattahoochee Gold during the senior "Duel in the Pool" meet held in Marietta. The two-team event was for swimmers age 13 and over. SCAT swimmers scored 225 points while Gold finished with 180.

PTC Flash offering registration

The Peachtree City Flash youth track team will begin the 2003 spring track season in February.Sponsored by the Georgia Parks and Recreation Department, PTC Flash focuses on young athletes from ages 6 through 14 years old.Young children that might be interested in track and field can learn the basics here and be more prepared for middle and high school programs.The Flash team welcomes both beginners and experienced youth runners in all age groups.

FCHS wrestles well, holds alumni night next Tuesday

The Fayette Tiger Wrestling team won three matches this past weekend. The Tigers defeated Grayson 54-16, Heritage 52-19 and Winder Barrow 53-21. Winning all their matches were Thomas Lowery (103), Matt Kellerman (130), Stephen McElrath (135), Patrick Kellerman (145), Joe Stickland (171), Will Barnes (189) and Drake McCoy (275).
