PTC Flash offering registration The Peachtree City Flash youth track team will begin the 2003 spring track season in February.Sponsored by the Georgia Parks and Recreation Department, PTC Flash focuses on young athletes from ages 6 through 14 years old.Young children that might be interested in track and field can learn the basics here and be more prepared for middle and high school programs.The Flash team welcomes both beginners and experienced youth runners in all age groups. Distances and events offered include: 50 meter run (for the younger ages only), 100 , 200, 400, 800 and 1600 meter runs, high jump, long jump, standing long jump, shot put and softball throw.Later in the season, hurdles and javelin throw will be introduced for those interested. Sign up will begin this week at Kedron Field House and the Recreation Ampitheatre offices in Peachtree City and will run through the 'kick off' meeting at Booth Middle School at 6:30 PM on Feb. 13.PTC Flash welcomes all those registered and, in addition, those interested in obtaining more information about the program. Applications will be accepted at the kick off meeting, but the coaches do ask for pre-registration if atall possible to help with our planning for the year. Practice times are from 5:30-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Reilly Field, adjacent to Peachtree City Elementary school on Wisdom Road.Saturday practices will be announced as the season progesses.Meets will begin in early March and continue through early May for the Parks and Rec State Championship and on through early August for those who wish to continue on with USATF (United States Track and Field) competitions.
