The Citizen Election Forum is open for you

This election year, as in past cycles, The Citizen is keeping its Letters to the Editor section open to local political candidates and their supporters.

It's time for peace talks in PTC squabble

Last week, I received an e-mail from the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce.

Our turn to put out a fire in department
By SALLIE SATTERTHWAITE

Traditionally, a fire department's primary mission is to put out fires. Modern departments would probably update that mandate by adding fire-prevention using tools like education and vigilance.

Mother Goose does Fayette

Laugh Lines

If Mother Goose had lived in Fayette County, these might be the rhymes they teach in schools today:

Amazing constitutional argument: Rights belong to persons, not states
By SHELDON RICHMAN

If you want insight into the mentality of the intellectual elite, observe the hysterical reaction to the Bush administration's declaration that the right to keep and bear arms is horror! an individual right.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Wheat flailing for issues in race against Dunn

I wasn't surprised when I read the results of a poll of the entire metro area which showed that Fayette County residents ranked our schools, acceptance of diversity and other areas highly. We have a wonderful community and have much to be proud of.

Internet reader on Jim Watson: 'He's guilty'

I am from the Fayetteville area and have been following [the murder trial of Jim Watson] from day one. I have recently moved to Florida and I am so thankful for the Internet so that I can continue to follow this story.

How about 'Jim Watson is innocent until proven guilty'?

In response to Lynn Williams' letter about Jim Watson trial:

Mayor: Current problems show accountability need

After grinding through former Mayor Lenox's "I'm gonna sue you guys" letter of June 12 and the contrast of hearing Bishop Holloway speak at a Christian men's breakfast the following Saturday, I will conclude that I am weak. I think that it is constructive to admit that I am susceptible to doing the wrong thing. I could not be completely honest without saying that the easy way out looks good at times.

Why does ex-mayor think PTC can't run without him?

Why does Bob Lenox think the City of Peachtree City can't function without his input? His title is not mayor in remission; it is private citizen.

Problem may lie with egos of current PTC Council members

I must say that I have read this paper for many years. I have been outraged by some of the antics of our elected officials, but never so much as to be moved to write this paper my opinion. I am now so moved.

Squire Bob, let it go!

In keeping with your exceptional analogy outlining the sore losers, the Peachtree City aristocracy and the outs (shadow government), I must reply to Squire [Bob] Lenox and his letter delivered to City Hall on behalf of all us citizens.

Want to stop growth? Here are effective ways

On the surface I would agree with Bob Craft; I do not want Fayette County to turn into a Riverdale.

Reconcile age cutoff dates

Now is the season for fall sign-up in Peachtree City: Baseball, roller hockey, soccer, etc. Can someone please inform me why all Peachtree City children's sports organizations have Aug. 1 as their age cutoff date while the Fayette County school system's age cutoff is Sept. 1?

Williams Co. withdrew but may reapply later

Please allow me this opportunity to update the community on the current information, as I know it, regarding Williams Company and the proposed power plant on Peters Road.

Place for dogs to play would be a great amenity in PTC

This is written in response to Jim Stinson's question in the June 12 edition of The Citizen asking if there is anyone out there willing to drive their dogs to Kedron to let them run in a fenced area with no grass.
