Reconcile age cutoff dates

Now is the season for fall sign-up in Peachtree City: Baseball, roller hockey, soccer, etc. Can someone please inform me why all Peachtree City children's sports organizations have Aug. 1 as their age cutoff date while the Fayette County school system's age cutoff is Sept. 1?

Why not have all age cutoff dates be Sept. 1? Otherwise there are many children born between Aug. 1 and Aug. 31 that can never be on the same team as their school friends. It doesn't seem well-thought-out to me.
