Frankly I am glad we reelected a man who has common sense, knows the people and does not try to talk down to everyone- especially those who do not see things his way.
I think our county is heading in the right direction.

Too bad he's the village idiot. And by the way, of course, he doesn't talk down to people; it's hard to talk down to people when at least half the people in the room are smarter.

District 1, prepare to be ignored for another 4 years because he's too dumb to care and his puppet master tells him not to.

Submitted by ConcernedCitizen2 on Wed, 07/09/2008 - 2:57pm.

For several months, I have followed the campaign for the July 15th Republican primary nomination for Fayette County District Attorney.
Through my observations, I have observed how Mr. Scott Ballard’s
platform primarily focuses on citizens who grew up the Fayetteville
and Peachtree City areas. Based on Mr. Ballard’s campaign slogan
which states: “Protecting What’s Ours,” is a true indication that he seems to be saying, if you’re not a well-connected Caucasian
resident, who didn’t grow up in Fayetteville and Peachtree City, you
will be excluded from equal justice within the Fayette legal system. Mr. Ballard’s record as a Prosecutor speaks loudly for itself and all the injustices that have occurred during his time as a Prosecutor.

On the other hand, Mr. Rudjard Hayes comes across to some people as being a stern no nonsense type person. But, he still projects himself as being a firm yet fair prosecutor who will prosecute cases by its merit not by the color of an individual. Mr. Hayes has done an effective job of pointing out numerous weaknesses and shortcomings in Mr. Ballard’s record as the District Attorney for Fayette County. Mr. Hayes has also done an effective job of showing why he would be a better District Attorney for Fayette County. His accomplishments as a prosecutor speaks volumes for his qualifications.

I don’t have a personal vendetta or an ax to grind against Mr.
Ballard, but his “Good-Ole-Boy” attitude makes me sick to my stomach.

Unfortunately, Mr. Ballard continues to campaign on the backs of the
two African-American juveniles involved in a fight at a Fayette
County High School restroom in December. The two African-American
men received stiff jail sentences in juvenile court while a Caucasian female who was just recently arrested in Fayette County for Gang activity was only sentenced to probation.. The Caucasian female openly wears gang tattoos on her body. Another incident involving several Caucasian juvenile males who were charged with several counts of Strong Armed Robbery in Fayette County where one of the victims were hospitalized, only received a maximum sentence of 18 months (most of which will not be served if they have good behavior) all of these juveniles had prior offenses where as the two African American males never had been in any trouble and no weapons or injuries were involved their incident. In addition, Scott Ballard, allowed another Caucasian male charged (and found guilty) with the same Gang related charges as the two African American males, the Caucasian male was only given one year and had to serve only 4 months.

It is incidents such as this that leaves one to wonder when the
injustices in our society Stop!

I am a member of the Weatherly Community and I would just like to say that I am absolutely impressed with the performance of the Fire Dept. at a house fire that occurred the other day in my neighborhood. It seemed they responded quickly and that they had the fire out in no time. All I could see were flames flying everywhere. They saved an entire house from burning to the ground in a very bad lightning storm. I don't want to go on and on too much but I would just like to say good job fellas and keep up the good work!

With the Free Speech that mentioned a breach of the Ten Commandments by a lawyer, wow, Cal was afraid that there would be a public stoning so I think he left the Free Speech off the online version for the sake of the poor fella's neck.

The Free Speecher accused a lawyer of an affair before he got divorced and the daughter was mad. Gee, that's never happened in Fayette County before. And in a campaign involving three lawyers it's not like the three of them over the years as lawyers haven't....heck, I'll stop there before I get the gong. Don't worry, Natural--- nothing in there about Dunn's Campaign for Westmoreland's about-to-be-empty Congressional seat.

Seriously, its probably just an IT delay.

The kids have a dress code...the teachers should also.

It's very disheartening when I pick my child up from school and the teachers come walking out looking so sloppy. At times it's hard to tell who is part of the teaching staff and who just walked out from doing yard work. I have to dress professionally for my job, they should too. I am first in line to say and vote that teachers need a raise...they don't get paid nearly enough for the importance of their job and responsibilities. With that said, it doesn't matter what the income, people can dress neatly, even in casual attire. Our kids spend a large part of their formidable years at school and teachers have a very big impact on them. Teachers should portray the importance of learning, education, personal appearance and professionalism. I've lived in Fayette County for 23 years and I believe our education system is second to none...so when others look at our teachers they should see how professional and serious about education Fayette County teachers are.

Submitted by MYTMITE on Thu, 06/12/2008 - 10:12am.

I cringe when I see how sloppy some of the teachers dress. Even when their pictures appear in the paper for something worthwhile they have done, some look sloppier than any of the students. How can we expect our students to care about their appearance when may of our teachers look like slobs? Recently, I attended Honors Night at a local high school where a male student received a military scholarship worth thousands of dollars. He was an attractive young man but he wore cargo shorts and flip flops. If receiving this scholarship was not important enough for him to dress up just a little, you have to wonder what he performance will be otherwise. Clothes may not make the person but it definitely makes a better impression when one is dressed nicely.
The same goes for church. People come dressed for church like they would for a picnic. This is both adults and children. I know they have lowered the bar in order to get better attendance but there are just some times when a person should make a little more effort.

Well, ended up having prime rib rather than turkey. My youngest was and still is battling a nasty cold. Mrs Cy got it Thursday and past it to me. Yesterday, it hit me at church. It has been downhill for me since noon yesterday. So I don't know if I'm going in. I got this database project that I need to work but, if you can't think clearly you can get lost in building search queries. I'm going to give myself one more hour and then make the call.

One real nifty thing I saw yesterday were wild turkeys - not the drink - but the real thing. I have lived out here for just over 20 years and never seen that. Of course, I never seen it in Los Angeles either.

Recently Mr. Gaddo had the impudence to declare the voters of Peachtree City would have voted "yes" for the referendum to expand the Gathering Place, IF they had more information. If that is indeed the case, why was so little on this referendum forthcoming prior to the election? Personally, I don't think Mr. Gaddo's remarks were entirely correct and he greatly underestimated the good citizens of our city. Although I'm trying not to speak for a vast majority of our citizenry, there must be an element of truth in saying were are fed up with the excesses of this community. Be glad there indeed is a Gathering Place to go to. It is still adequate for the needs of the community. As taxpayers, we are in an incredible squeeze with the local, state, and federal governments demanding ever-increasing chunks of our hard-earned paychecks. If the users of these facilities have the need for bigger and better, then how about users fees instead of tax dollars? It's an idea whose time has come. I am also more than happy to reveal my identity: I'm Jeffrey Ward, 20-year resident of Peachtree City and your comments are always welcome!

I believe it is pretty irresponsible on you part to post this false knee jerk reaction. I talked to at least a dozen kids last night, including my son, and they had no idea what I was talking about; I even had a conversation with the SRO, no truth to any of these.. As a matter of fact, he wanted to know if I knew the individual spreading this vicious rumor. One thing is to be aware of what’s going on, but what you posted here is totally irresponsible!

I'm sorry I didn't mean to be flip or condescending. I am amazed at how many parents are too busy for their kids.

If you work 60-80hrs a week and can't afford a live in nanny, you don't have the time to give kids the care they need. They aren't a stuffed animal you can put on a shelf when you get busy.

I have worked with different animal rescue groups, when people turn in a pet they usually claim "not enough time to give the pet quality care". When will people start to give kids the same consideration?? Can you give a child quality care? (and I'm not talking about giving them alot of money either) When will people stop having kids automatically and instead give it some serious thought. Only a very small number of people think seriously about the quality of care their career and life will allow them to give a child. It's sad.

I'm not a parent by choice, because I don't have the time and I don't want to make the time. Being a parent is a full-time job. Some people contend that I am too selfish. I think it is selfish to have a child and then ignore it for 18yrs.

I know many people who do put alot of time and effort into their kids, and even they admit it is a daily struggle. Kids these days are dealing with so many more issues than we did. There are no easy answers. Even the people who have the time are struggling to be parents in todays world.

I also am amazed by how careless parents can be, not to mention selfish. They forget that everything they do is reflected in their kids. They want to blame everyone else, but really need to take a good long look in the mirror.

Thinking this kind of goes back to the theory I stated the other day -when a generation of hippie, anti-establishment, anti law enforcement, mind altering recreation, free love, kind of folks, who didn't really care about much of anything, and they have children . . .what can we expect? Kids that don't really care about much of anything . . .have no respect for the establishment or law enforcement.

It is frightening isn't it? Rumor, fact, foolishness, attention seeking or whatever the devil is going on, it is frightening.

"when a generation of hippie, anti-establishment, anti law enforcement, mind altering recreation, free love, kind of folks, who didn't really care about much of anything, and they have children . . .what can we expect?"

Would you call PTC and Fayette County residents who vote republican to the tune of 85% "hippie, anti-establishment, anti-law enforcement?" Just because you wish it were a hippie problem does not make it so. This is a conservative Fayette County above average income problem that can't be blogged off on a demographic group that does not fit. It seems that even good old fashioned patriotic America-loving conservatives can raise kids who make bad decisions and crave attention. This would be such a case. But no one is served by trying to pretend this is a Greenich village problem. We own it and it'll be up to us to solve it.

You are absolutely right, and I will listen to other people's opinion.

Perhaps my limiting my thoughts to one segement of the 'parent' generation is incorrect. I will stand corrected. However, I still believe how the parents behaved in their youth, and they then grow up with those residual thoughts, habits, etc . . . does have a great influence on the kids of today.

When I hear of PTC parents hosting parties, and supplying the 'refreshments', seems to me to more or less encouraging their kids to misbehave and break the law; ummm this doesn't sound like 'conservative parenting'. Just wondering what can we then expect when parents are the major part of the problem.

You are absolutely correct, we own it and it'll be up to us to solve it. I'm just hoping the 'solving' comes very soon and very quick before someone or someplace is blown away.

I know exactly what you mean about the parent-sponsored parties. I often wonder if some parents are scared of growing up or just want to be their child's buddy. I know that sometimes I will have to be very unpopular with my kids to do what is right. I'm not sure why so many of us parents who should know what their kids are doing don't. I'm one of those that sits up until the head count is done at the end of the night and everyone is in. Oh, and I highly recommend those pesky alarm systems that beep whenever a door is openned in your house. You don't even have to pay for monitoring; just put the control in the master bedroom, and NO ONE is SNEAKING ANYWHERE.

Cheers,

I think you've hit the nail on the head in saying the parents are scared of growin up, and want to be thier kid's friend.

It is a sad thing to see kid's wasting their lives. I know there is a time to be young and have fun, we all did it - but somehow there is a big difference between back in the day, when 'rolling' someone's house was daring; and now when kid's make terrorist threats and/or follow through with that threat.

Guess I've turned into my parents and grandparents, as I sit and shake my head wondering about these kids today!

Its good to hear from you. I see Git Real isn't working you too hard.

People are throwing their kids away. I can't figure it out. I don't have any kids because I knew it was hard work. I already have one full time job I don't need another.

Tell Git Real to give you the holidays off or you'll go on strike.

Seems kids are totally out of control these days, a very sad mess for all of us, wish we could find the solution.

As for time off . . .my main duty all day, every day, is to make the boss look good . . .I do that very well, I mean very very well . . .so I'm thinking I probably can make plans for a couple of days off ;^)

This rumor started at the end of last week. I heard about it yesterday (Monday) and called the school today. Parents, if you have a child at any school in this county and they hear of any such "rumor", please be sure and follow up with the school to make sure they know about these things. And I agree with Skyspy.
A little advice here.... Make your children's business YOUR business and you'll find out a LOT.

Naw, don't see or hear much from ole Git these days. I'm trying to keep a low profile, just long enough to get to those Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks. Maybe if I'm real good and under the radar I'll get a few extra days off.

Thank God McIntosh is getting recognized for what is truly is. McIntosh has horrible principals along with bad administration that cannot keep students in line. They do not care for the students and seem to be at work just to get paid. All of this news is not new. McIntosh has always been full of drugs and violent people, it is just now getting recognized. The punishment system is very penile. They are more worried about their reputation than the students at the school.

You make our principal sound like Carter and you make our school sound like a war zone. Mcintosh is not FULL of violent people. It only takes a few to spoil the bunch. As a Mcintosh student of three years, I have witnessed many incidents in which the administrations concern for the students was apparent. I obviously do not know who you are, but you do not know what you are talking about.
