Palmetto's millage staying the same

If you haven't added onto your house or seen an increase increased in your assessment in Palmetto, then you can expect to pay the same amount of property tax that you paid last year. Otherwise you may want to start saving your spare change.

Big weekend in Union City

Last Saturday, Coweta-Fayette EMC hosted its fifth "On the Midway" member appreciation day. The country fair atmosphere attracted hundreds of members for the morning of fun.

Palmetto wants wastewater facility replaced

A resolution to replace the current wastewater facility in Palmetto was adopted Monday evening at the City Council's regular monthly meeting. The current facility constructed in 1969 has "become obsolete" and "given rise to an emergency situation" Mayor Clark Boddie pointed out.

West Nile confirmed in Fulton County

Two Fulton County residents have been identified as the first in metro Atlanta to contract the mosquito-borne West Nile virus, the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness reported today.

CRCT scores above state average

Results from the 2003 Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) have been released by the Georgia Department of Education and the figures show that Fulton County elementary and middle school students once again outperform their peers. Both Fulton's mean scale score and percent of students meeting or exceeding expectations remain above state averages at each grade level and subject tested.

Four candidates to present platforms at business forum

The “Business Forum” of the South Fulton Chamber of Commerce is honored to present the four candidates for the Chairmanship of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners at its October 16 meeting. Attendees will have an opportunity to hear the views of these individuals on the challenging issues that will await the winner of the November 4 election.

Candidates forum at Christian City

Christian City is holding a candidates' forum October 27, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. The forum will feature candidates for the Fulton County Commission Chair seat as well as candidates for Union City Council. Fulton County Commission candidates will be highlighted at 6 p.m. Union City Council candidates will be highlighted at 7 p.m. The forum will take place in Christian City's Sparks Inn Auditorium at 7290 Lester Road, Union City, Georgia 30291. The public and media is invited.

The brackets are set for the Region 4-AAAAA softball tournament, which gets underway Monday afternoon at McCurry Park in Fayetteville.

CCSU golfers finish 19th in Presbyterian Intercollegiate

The Clayton College & State University men’s golf team shot a round of 312, its lowest round of the season and 12 strokes better than its opening-round score, to place 19th in the Presbyterian Intercollegiate at Musgrove Mill Golf Course in Clinton, S.C. Tuesday.

Hawks take region crown

The Heritage School boys varsity soccer team has collected its third region crown in three years.
