Hawks take region crown

The Heritage School boys varsity soccer team has collected its third region crown in three years.

A recent defeat of West Georgia Christian in LaGrange locked up the Georgia Independent Schools Association Region 4-AA title for Coach Culpepper’s squad. The 7-0 defeat of the Lions raised the Hawks’ record to 6-0 in the region and 8-0-1 overall.

The scorers for the Hawks were John Fukunaga with 2 goals and 1 assist, Alden Marchman with 2 goals, James Cox with 1 goal, Bart Harvischak with 1 goal and 1 assist and Ryan Ware with 1 goal and 3 assists. Sean Steen collected his 6th shutout on the season.

The Hawks traveled to Calvary Christian of Columbus last Friday for a nonregion match and again came away with a 7-0 victory. Leading the scoring was Bart Harvischak with 3 goals and 1 assist followed by Ryan Ware with 2 goals and 1 assist. Alden Marchman and David Soulen added 1 goal apiece. Sean Steen raised his shutout total to 7 for the season.

The Hawks close out their season today at North Cobb Christian, the current Region 1-AAA leader.
