on Easter memories

Note:
We were distressed to learn Tuesday that Dr. Hatcher took a fall at
the church Monday night and sustained serious damage to his knee. At
press time Tuesday, he spoke to us from Fayette Community Hospital where
he was awaiting word on surgery, possibly Wednesday. We sincerely wish
him a speedy recovery and are reprinting one of his Easter columns from
a past issue.
Nativity
Episcopal announces Easter services, activities
Holy Week begins
at the Episcopal Church of Nativity with two services on Palm Sunday,
April 13. All outdoor services will be held indoors in case of rain.
St.
Andrew's Episcopal makes plans for Holy Week, Easter
Holy Week services
at St. Andrew's-in-the-Pines begin with Palm Sunday Holy Communion Saturday
at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 7:30, 9:15 and 11 a.m. There will be a palm
procession at both the 9:15 and 11 a.m. services. At 7 p.m. there will
be a dramatic reading.
Catholic
Church of St. Gabriel announces activities, Masses for Holy Week, Easter
The Catholic Church
of St. Gabriel in Fayetteville will begin the celebration of Holy Week
with a joint blessing of palms with the Episcopal Church of the Nativity,
its next door neighbor, on Palm Sunday, April 13. Father Jimmy Adams
of St. Gabriel's and Father Bob Hudak of Nativity will lead the joint
blessing. Each congregation will then proceed to their individual churches
for Sunday services.
Bethany's
Easter performance is based on famous Da Vinci painting
Leonardo
Da Vinci's painting of the Last Supper will provide the theme for Bethany
United Methodist Church's performance of "Lord, is it I?"
Maundy Thursday, April 17, at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
Tyrone
first Christian will present Easter musical April 13
The
Chancel Choir of the First Christian Church of Tyrone will present a
musical, "The Borrowed Tomb," Sunday, April 13, at 6 p.m.
The musical drama depicts the events which led to the death and resurrection
of Jesus.
Children's
Choir to perform at F'ville's Outreach International Center April 19
The
exotic rhythms of Africa blended with the harmony of children's voices
will echo in Fayetteville Saturday, April 19, when the Watoto Children's
Choir, "Concert of Hope," performs at the Outreach International
Center on Jeff Davis Drive. The concert begins at 7 p.m.
His
House Church plans 'Outdoor Easter Story' Friday
His
House Community Church in Senoia will present a 15-acre tour of the
"Outdoor Easter Story," Friday and Saturday, April 11 and
12, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The presentation will depict four scenes from
the Easter story: the trial of Jesus, featuring historically accurate
Roman soldiers from Living History Units in Georgia; the crucifixion
of Jesus; the resurrection from the tomb; and the empty market place.
A trailer will transport visitors to each scene along the 15-acre route.
Groups are welcome.
F'ville
First UMC plans day of service to the community
Fayetteville
First United Methodist Church will celebrate its second annual "Great
Day of Service," Saturday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. During
this day of community work, church officials expect over 400 participants
to complete 22 projects in Fayetteville and the surrounding areas.
'Borrowed
Tomb' to be performed at Senoia First Baptist
The
First Baptist Church of Senoia will present an Easter musical, "The
Borrowed Tomb," Saturday and Sunday, April 12 and 13 at 6:30 p.m.
The play revolves around Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus as they struggle
with loyalty before and during the crucifixion of Jesus. Their relationship
with the other priests of the Sanhedrin, especially Caiaphas, becomes
strained as they discover his plot to capture Jesus.
Newnan
First Baptist presents 'Once Upon a Tree' April 18, 19, 20
The
First Baptist Church of Newnan will present its Easter Pageant, "Once
Upon A Tree," Friday and Saturday, April 18 and 19 at 7 p.m., and
Easter Sunday, April 20, at 10:45 a.m.
Body
of Christ church plans musical, financial seminar this month
The
Body of Christ Church International, U.S.A., invites the community to
attend its Easter musical, "Resurrection Celebration," Friday,
April 18, at 7:30 p.m.
