Soccer teams face region opponents and get mixed results

The weather over the weekend was much better than it has been for the local soccer teams and some of those teams responded well.

Fayette County names new football coach

In January of 1979, Thomas Webb taught health and physical education at Fayette County High School. In the fall, he was teaching the same subjects at Fayette County Junior High School and had his first football coaching job. He will return to the sidelines for Fayette County High School this fall as the Tigers new head football coach.

Semi-pro football team holds open tryouts

The Knights, a semi-professional football team, will have open tryouts through March 29 at North Clayton Middle School. If you want to play full contact football, this is the team for you.

Starr's Mill boys and girls run well at Five Way Meet

Starr's Mill's track team hosted Alexander, Riverdale, Mt. Zion and McEachern on Saturday. Both the boys and girls had a number of top 10 finishers.

Sandy Creek wins power lifting meet

Starr's Mill hosted a power lifting meet on Saturday with Spalding County, Sandy Creek and McIntosh competing along with Starr's Mill. Sandy Creek and Starr's Mill finished with the same amount of points, 126, but Sandy Creek had more individual winners and therefore won the meet.

High school baseball season underway

The high school baseball season is still young. In fact, several teams have had rain either cut short or postpone a game altogether. Each local team has seen some encouraging things though, promising an entertaining season.
