Starr's Mill boys and girls run well at Five Way Meet

Starr's Mill's track team hosted Alexander, Riverdale, Mt. Zion and McEachern on Saturday. Both the boys and girls had a number of top 10 finishers.

In the Boys 100 meter dash, Johnny Edwards placed (11.75), while Alex Cookfair placed 10th (11.94). In the 200 meter, Michael Buice placed ninth (24.23) and was followed by Wes Jacobs (24.28). Kentavious Wilson finished first in the 800 (2:05), while Steven Morrison placed seventh (2:16) and Allen Coe placed eighth (2:18). Bradley Morris won the 1,600 (4:44), while Wilson placed third (4:49), Sankar Sridaran placed sixth (5:00) and Craig Hyatt finished 10th (5:09). In the 3,200 Morris placed first (10:20), Sridaran placed fourth (11:10.33) and Hyatt placed fifth (11:10.66).

Matt Harlfinger won the 110 meter hurdles (16.17), while Will Raymond placed eighth (20.24) and Stephen Fleming placed ninth (20.66). Abdou Ceesay won the 300 meter hurdles (42.98) and was followed by Raymond in ninth place (47.67) and Fleming in 10th place (48.38). The 4x100 meter relay team of Edwards, Jacobs, Harlfinger and Antonio Scott placed seventh (46.27), while the team of Ceesay, Cookfair, Mark Harkins and Dante Allen placed eighth (46.33). The 4x400 team of Edwards, Harlfinger, Wilson and Mitch Sargent took third place (3:40.53) while Allen, Ceesay, Jacobs and Scott placed seventh (3:54) and the team of Harkins, David Woods, Josh Jiricek and Chandler Smith placed eighth (3:54.88).

In the high jump, Michael Kursteiner placed second (6') and Lewis Parks placed eighth (5'4"). In the pole vault, Woods placed fourth (10'6") while Caleb Martin placed seventh (9'8"), Carey Owens placed eighth (8'6") and John Manching, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Alex Cookfair tied for ninth (8'). Allen placed seventh in the long jump (18'11"), while Kursteiner placed fifth in the triple jump (39'2") and Harlfinger placed seventh (38'3"). Bradley O'Connor placed fifth in the shot put (35'4") and Mark Commerford placed ninth (33'10"). In the discus, Jared Shafer placed fourth (102') and Cookfair placed seventh (94'9").

For the girls, Aneesha Lane placed sixth in the 100 meter (13.42), while in the 800 Jeannine Guertin placed fourth (2:46), Katie Hughes placed fifth (2:48) and Rachel Woerner placed 10th (2:52). Kristin Horton placed first in the 1,600 (5:58), while Hughes placed ninth (6:23) and Stephanie Thayer placed 10th (6:26). Horton also won the 3,200 (12:53), while Ashley Hyatt placed third (14.47). In the 100 meter hurdles, Lindsey Wilckens placed fourth (18.36), while Kristin Olson placed fifth (18.62). Olson also finished second in the 300 hurdles (50.19).

The 4x100 relay tem of Lane, Guertin, Wilckens and Maggie Campbell placed fifth (54.44), while the team of Ginny Balkcom, Angela Garza, Kali Gatlin and Stephanie Nguyen placed seventh (59.99). In the high jump, Campbell placed second (5'2") and Wilckens placed seventh (4'4"). Jennifer Norman placed fifth in the shot put (27'1") and Garza placed eighth (26'2"). Garza placed second in the discus (79'6") while Norman placed third (78'2").

Starr's Mill will host the Panther Relays this Saturday.
