Sandy Creek wins power lifting meet

Starr's Mill hosted a power lifting meet on Saturday with Spalding County, Sandy Creek and McIntosh competing along with Starr's Mill. Sandy Creek and Starr's Mill finished with the same amount of points, 126, but Sandy Creek had more individual winners and therefore won the meet.

Local lifters who finished in the top three of the 0-125 weight class were DJ Wright, Starr's Mill, first place 605 pounds; Adrian Knight, Sandy Creek, second place, 545 pounds and Drew Stockman, McIntosh, third place, 535 pounds. In the 126-145 weight class, Sandy Creek's Will Judson finished in first place with 795 pounds and was followed by Travis Cooper, also from Sandy Creek, in second place with 725 pounds and Starr's Mill's Wes Jacobs in third with 680 pounds.

In the 146-165 weight class, Starr's Mill's Chris James captured second place with 820 pounds, while McIntosh's Cameron Hall placed third with 785 pounds. In the 166-185 weight class, Sandy Creek's Jeremy Long placed first with 965 pounds, Starr's Mill's Kyle McCreary placed second with 875 pounds and Billy Price, also from Starr's Mill, took third with 865 pounds. Starr's Mill's Ryan Gloer took first place in the 186-205 weight class with 920 pounds.

In the 206-225 weight class Sandy Creek's Larry Beard placed first with 1,065 pounds, while fellow Patriot Jamal Rome took second with 1,015 pounds. Starr's Mill's Scott Morris finished in third place with 895 pounds. In the 226 plus weight class, Starr's Mill's Andy Smith placed first with 940 pounds, while teammate Tony Barr placed secon with 890 pounds and Sandy Creek's Josh Durham placed third with 875 pounds.
