Suspect admits abduction plot

Peachtree City Police foiled a potential child abduction Monday afternoon by arresting a man near Oak Grove Elementary School who police believe held two boys against their will on a golf cart Sunday.

School officials stress safety

Oak Grove Elementary School principal Debbie Wheat and assistant principal John Bouchell dealt with calls from concerned parents Wednesday, following the arrest of a 22-year old man Monday at Rock Spray Park located near the school.

Bridge repairs underway

The golf cart and pedestrian bridge over Ga. Highway 54 in Peachtree City has been closed to all traffic for significant repairs.

On March 6, 1857, the United States Supreme Court issued a decision that would have far reaching and tragic results. In the landmark Dred Scott decision the court ruled once and for all that black people were not legal "persons" according to the Constitution of the United States. The court ruled that a slave was literally the property of his owner and could be bought, sold, used, or even killed at the owner's discretion.
