McIntosh and Starr’s Mill girls capture numerous slots on all-region team

Finishing one and two in the region and holding the second and fourth spots in the state, it should be no surprise that McIntosh and Starr’s Mill’s varsity girls soccer teams have a number of players on the all-region team. This team was voted on by the coaches of Region 4-AAAAA based on the player’s performances during the season. Eight coaches participated in the voting. All first team players received votes from at least half of the participating coaches.

Newnan hosts playoff game

The Newnan Lady Cougars will host the first-ever state playoff soccer game played in Drake Stadium tomorrow at 3 p.m. For the third consecutive year, Newnan will meet Brookwood in the quarterfinals of the AAAAA state playoffs.

Ratcliffe named dancer of the month

Peachtree City resident Lindsay Ratcliffe, 12, has been named Varsity.com’s May Dancer of the Month.

New Lazers logo

Peachtree City Youth Soccer Association Lazers U19 Girls won the 2003 national championship and because of this tremendous accomplishment the organization added a star to its logo to represent its first-ever national title.

Anglers place 10th

The Peachtree City Anglers placed 10th in The Georgia B.A.S.S. Chapter Federation Top Six Classic at Lake Eufala

Flash ready for state meet

The Peachtree City Flash spring track team competed in the annual GRPA District Track Meet April 23-24. Six teams within the district competed for an opportunity to advance to the state track meet this weekend in Augusta.

Lacrosse team closing out season

The Peachtree City high school lacrosse team saved their best for last and never looked better, rebounding from two recent close losses in a dynamic victory on the road against Gwinnett. The win in the final regular season game moves their season record to 10-2 overall and 9-2 in the North Georgia Lacrosse League.

Starr’s Mill takes 3rd in region meet

The Starr’s Mill boys track team hosted the region 4-AAAAA track meet last Saturday and Monday. The Panthers placed third and had region champions in the 1,600-meter run, the 3,200-meter run and the pole vault, along with a number of other solid finishes. McIntosh’s track team placed eighth overall but had some strong performances at the meet as well.

Neither team has allowed a goal so far in the AAAAA state soccer playoffs and McIntosh and Starr’s Mill would prefer to keep it that way. But the road will get a little tougher now that they have made the quarterfinals.

USCS Asphalt Thunder Tour comes to Senoia

The United Sprint Car Series Asphalt Thunder Tour will be in action this Saturday night at Senoia Speedway. The USCS winged outlaw sprint cars are pound-for-pound the most powerful short track racing cars in the world, and will be turning the fastest speeds ever recorded the 3/8-mile paved oval.

Ladies golf tournament

The Turtle Open Ladies Golf Tournament was held at Planterra Golf Course April 22 for the 9th year in a row.
