Car inspections have begun at Hartsfield

Starting yesterday, the Atlanta Police Department and private security personnel began conducting visual inspections of all vans, trucks, and SUVs on the access roads leading to Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport.

Darnell proposes new ethics ordinance

Fulton County District 5 Commissioner Emma I. Darnell has proposed a resolution that would revamp the county's ethics code.

Haro named Fulton school superintendent

Dr. John T. Haro, of Rosemount, Minn., unanimously was approved as Superintendent of Schools Feb. 20 at a special called meeting of the Board of Education. He will assume his new role July 1.

Annexations raise objections

Fairburn's proposed annexation requests for the Harris tract on Plantation Road and the Stephens tract on GA 74 have been objected to by Fulton County.

Police Department overcrowded

Officials said Monday Fairburn's Police Department is a little too overcrowded and has caused severe space problems.

PSC warns consumers of telemarketing scam

The Georgia Public Service Commission is warning Georgia consumers to be aware of fraudulent telemarketing schemes involving registration for the Georgia No Call List. Some consumers have reported receiving telemarketing calls soliciting registration fees as much as $300 for the Georgia No Call List. The solicitors have also asked for personal information such as social security numbers. The Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs is investigating these reports.
