Lady Indians and War Eagles still alive in state playoffs By MICHAEL
BOYLAN The East Coweta Lady Indians and the Landmark Christian School Lady War Eagles are still alive in the state basketball tournament. Both teams play this evening at colleges on opposite sides of the state. East Coweta defeated Camden County in the opening round of the AAAAA state basketball tournament last week 43-39. Camden County won the Region 3-AAAAA title the week before. The Lady Indians, the fourth seed from Region 4-AAAAA, got 10 points a piece from Alexis Malone and Ashley Godfrey but was led in scoring by Megan Darrah with 17 points. Darrah recently rejoined the team after sitting out for several weeks due to injury. The Lady Indians will take on Houston County tonight at 7 p.m. If they win they will meet the winner of Riverdale and Valdosta tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Both games will take place at Savannah State College. Landmark's Lady War Eagles got a huge win last weekend by defeating Towns County 70-41. The Lady War Eagles had a 30-3 run in the third quarter that sealed the win. Ashley Key scored 39 points for Landmark, may of the points coming in the second half. Merritt Tidwell contributed nine points during the 30 point run. Landmark will face Bremen this afternoon at 4 p.m. at Floyd College in Rome. A win would pit them against the Social Circle/Trion winner on Saturday at 7 p.m.
